John 1: 11 he came to what was his own but his own people did not accept him.

It is terrible when you are not accepted. It causes you to doubt yourself for awhile and feel deeply hurt.  it is the feeling like when you are new somewhere and no one talks to you.  You feel invisible and completely not accepted.  Jesus was not accepted because he did not have status.  All the gossip about him being illegitimate must have been upsetting.  He was just a carpenter.  Somehow the goodness and wisdom he showed was not enough for acceptance. Religious jealousy added to the fuel of the religious leaders, who were looking for something to condemn Jesus.   Jesus presence stirred their fear,  because they were too comfortable in their laws, and they could not be open to the love Jesus was teaching.  They did not want to be made uncomfortable to a new loving way of thinking.  Do we judge people because of their beliefs or because they are from the South and you are from the North ?  Maybe it is because they are a Woman and you are a Man. Do you find yourself not accepting someone who has a lot of goodness and stands up for what is Godly?  It is so sad the things that cause us to completely close ourselves to Love.

John 1: 12  But those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name.

So the next time you don’t feel accepted, remember that you are a child of a God and you will never be alone.  You are beautifully and wonderfully made by God.  All you must do is accept Jesus and believe in his name.

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Words from our mouths may wound others deeply, into the depths of another persons heart and  may take years to heal.  Sometimes they never heal.  Teachers or parents who belittle a child’s intelligence, by calling them stupid or ignorant can cause them damage for years.  Those who knock another persons religion,  create divisions, and hatred , could cause wars.  Those who make fun of the elderly, special, or handicapped persons by calling them names,  appears to be the rule rather than the exception.

Managing our tongue  requires much  prayer and practice.  We cannot change others from making wicked statements.

James 3:8 ” But no human being can tame the tongue full of deadly poison.”  The stories of teens making fun, mentally and physically torturing them to point of suicide.

Proverbs 8: 21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and who loves it will eat its fruits.”  These suicides cannot be healed, it is too late.  There are so many wounds for a family to grasp, that are confronting our youth today.  My prayers are with them all.

We have so many serious disconnects in our society.  Road Rage for example; Having to make sure you do not offend someone or they will verbally abuse or shoot you.    How did we get this wicked?  Our children feel free to be rude verbally to everyone, demonstrating no respect.  Parents that verbally and physically abuse their children can seriously damage their self image causing lower self esteem.  We all have witnessed it and we all have done it at one time or another.  We find it easier to say mean things than to complement someone else.  Lets encourage one another and praise God for all he has given us.

Matthew 12:36-37 “I tell you on the day of Judgement people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be condemned.”

Respect seems to have been lost in our society.  We let old ladies stand while we sit.  We watch while others burn our Flag.  T.V. programs disrespect religion. A recent example of this on House of Cards where Kevin Spacey’s character, spit on a statue of the crucified Jesus.  We take more than our fair share at buffets.  We let our children be rude, unkind and do not discipline them. We leave church early.  We say mean things on the internet to others.   We have become animals who kill to keep from being killed.  It is the weak that seem to get the brunt of the disrespect.  The child in the school is bullied because he does not look great or does not fit in.  Schools do nothing for fear of being sued.  A Downs child filled with so much love and innocence, but looks different,  is a target for abuse of any kind.  Even the servants of God think they are above hurting other’s with disrespect.  They do not realize the big responsibility God has given them. It is not an excuse to speak abusive to believers or non believers or other christians.  This is wickedness.  Servants be submissive to your masters with due Respect. Not only to those who are good and gentle , but also to those who are unreasonable.  Let’s pray that respect becomes politically correct.

How has Christian gossip hurt you?

I am always surprised when Christians compete and gossip about me.  Recently I was gossiped about and it hurt me deeply.  So deeply that I move away on the scripture.  If they do not accept you wipe the dust from your feet and move to the next town.  We were deeply hurt, no one would listen to how we felt.  It was like we were outcasts of friends.  Hopefully you are not thinking that we deserved it.  Because we did not!!!  The message from Pope Francis came out at that time.  His words were very healing for me.  It is obvious he had same problem with gossip.  This website is here to share your hurt with any wound. I hope that I am not the only one that is sharing!!!!!

Pope Francis wrote

” We have as it were of one heart and one soul:  That unity, unanimity and harmony of feelings of love, mutual love, thinking “others are better than me” , and this is lovely isn’t it?”

But this does not happen automatically after Baptism.  It must be brought about within us, “on the journey through life by the Spirit”. “This gentleness is a somewhat forgotten virtue:  being gentle, making room for others.  There are so many enemies of gentleness, aren”t there?  Starting with gossip.  When people prefer to tell tales, to gossip about others, to give others a few blows.  These are daily events that happen to everyone, and to me too”.  “They are temptations of the evil one.”  he continued, “who does not want the Spirit to create this gentleness, in Christian communities.  In the parish the ladies of cathechesis quarrel with the ladies of Caritas”  These conflicts always exist, in the family, in the neighborhood, even among friends.  And this is not new life.  When the Spirit causes us to be born to new life, he makes us gentle and kind, not judgmental:  the only Judge is the Lord”. The proposal to be silent fits in here.  “If I have something to say, let me say it to the individual, not to the entire neighborhood; only to the one who can remedy the situation”.

“This”, Pope Francis concluded, “is only one step. If , with the grace of the Spirit, we succeed in never gossiping, it will be great and beautiful step ahead and will do everyone good.  Let us ask the Lord to show us and th world the beauty and fullness of this new life of being born of the Spirit, of treading each other with kindness, with respect.  Let us ask for this grace for us all.
