Until God ordains otherwise, a man ought to bear patiently whatever he cannot correct in himself and in others. Imitation of Christ by John Kempis

OUR FAITH

MY FAITH

It is not about me

It’s about You

I am gone and only you remain

Total trust in you

In your love

In your generosity

That your power can do all

I know you

I know you keep your word

If I ask I will receive

I knock, and you will open the door

Miracles occur

All my faith is in you

It is all about your merciful love

The Parable of the Mustard Seed

30 Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? 31 It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. 32 Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.”

33 With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. 34 He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.

From the picture you can see the size of a mustard seed and the size of the tree.  This implies that we start with just a small amount of faith and it grows as Jesus answers our prayers into something really strong.  Our faith is encouraged as we exercise using it in prayer.

In my personal life my mother had a necklace that had a mustard seed in a little plastic globe, that hung on a chain.  I was always touched by it’s size and I was told that it represented the scripture.  Just recently I gave this to my granddaughter Bria.  I explained the significance of this necklace to me.  It was a special piece of jewelry to me.

I believe that this visual reminder of the size of the faith that I must have has molded my thinking and encouraged me in prayer.  I know that I can muster up that much faith to get a positive answer.

My first miracle that I experienced in my life was when I was 13 and my mother attempted suicide.  She was admitted into St. Elizabeths hospital in Washington, D.C.  It was serious because at that time no one came out of a mental ward.  My mother was catatonic.  She did not speak to anyone.  One day she saw Mary the Mother of Jesus and she began to talk and was able to come home.  She had made a statue of Mary with the help of the nuns at the Catholic Hospital. My mother gave that statue to me when she came home.   We were not Catholic, yet I had a Mary statue in my room.  This was my first miracle that I experienced.

My Second miracle was when my mother in law had cancer surgery that went wrong and she was not able to swallow a string to see why her asophogace was closed.  My husband and I bought a Mary statue to take to her and the String went down immediately.  She was about 45 years old at the time and she lived to be 82.

These are the things that helped my faith grow.  So many times we take these things for granted and do not realize how important they are in our lives.  It is good to take the time to meditate and praise God for all our miracles.

1Corinthians 10:4-5 And they drank the same spiritual drink for they drank from a spiritual rock that followed them and the rick was Christ.  Yet God was not pleased with most of them, for they were struck down in the dessert.

I was in meditation and I saw such a wonderful light and and negative thought came into my head and it became dark all of a sudden I saw a window and was told to come through it.  This took awhile.  The meditation song let your river flow brought the light back.  God let his river flow and cleanse all the negative from my thoughts. I was shown how negative thinking and complaining cause darkness.  Darkness causes blindness to the real truth in our lives.

Lord replace fear within us with a strong Faith

When my mother died I was unable to be there when she died.  My son Matthew traveled, from Tampa to West Palm Beach Florida, with me to try and make it before she died.  We did not make it. I was devastated. During a meditation time I saw my Mother dancing with Jesus.  It was wonderful for me to see her happy.  Her diabetes had caused her to have her legs removed several times before she died.  My Mother had a very hard life and her mental illness caused all of us lots of heartache.  To see her dancing with Jesus was such a healing for me.  Only Jesus can help our pain and heal our hearts that ache for the suffering.

2Timothy 4: 7-8

I have fought the good fight to the end I have run the race to finish; I have kept the faith, all there is to come for me now is the crown of uprightness which the Lord, the upright judge, will give to me on that day.

Saint Paul accomplished a lot.  What an accomplishment to run and not grow weary.  To continue through all the pain and win by going over the finish line successful.  No greater Faith than the one that sticks it out to the end.

MARY’S FAITH

MAGNIFICAT

My Soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord

And my spirit rejoices in God my savior

He Looks on his servant in her lowliness

Henceforth all ages will call me blessed

The almighty works marvels for me

Holy his name

His mercy is from age to age

On those who fear him.

He puts forth his arm in strength

And scatters the proud-hearted

He casts the mighty from their thrones

And raises the lowly

He fills the starving with good things

Se protects Israel, his servant

Remembering his mercy,

The mercy promised to our fathers

to Abraham and his sons forever.

Mary was visited and told that she would be filled with the Holy Spirit and become pregnant with the Messiah.  The above prayer was her response of gratitude and knowledge of who was speaking to her. This implies a relationship prior to the Angels visit.   All the gifts are present in that prayer, obviously she is caught up in the Holy Spirit and began to Praise God.  What a knowledge of God.  Not shaken by an angel talking to her.  Open to the message and responding with out reservation.  Immediately in obedience, Mary went straight to Elizabeth as she was instructed.  Mary traveled many miles to Elizabeth, a 50 year old woman, to help her with her pregnancy.  What kind of faith believes these messages.  With out question Mary goes on the mission to Elizabeth.  When she arrives at Elizabeth’s home, Mary is greeted with such encouragement from Elizabeth.  Now the faith and discernment of Elizabeth is incredible and Mary’s response is wonderful.  The Young woman loving the older woman and both in mutual respect.  What faith!!!   No false humility, No questioning, No complaining, Just total abandonment to God’s will.   What an example for us of Holiness.

Mary lived her whole life that way all the way to the cross.  She had a mission and she completed it.  We all benefited from this great selfless love of our Heavenly Mother.

In my faith journey with God.  I have found myself struggling to understand what God wants me to do.  I am amazed at the Faith of Mary.

FEAR is the opposite of faith.  Here are some examples of Fear:

Being insecure

Inadequate

Inferior

Timid

Worry

Sensitivity

Fear of Authority

Terror

Horror or Tormented

Nightmares

Panic Attacks

Phobias ( dark, heights, future )

Anxiety

Nervousness

Procrastinating

Abandonment

Divorce

Separation

How many of these negative fears keep us from loving God?  How many keep us from our ministry God has called us to accomplish.

Mary had none of these examples of fear in her magnificat, she was fearless.  Only Faith in God makes us fearless.  What a confident woman and at such a  young age.  Mary is the example of the young woman that has had great religious and spiritual teaching.

Do you think that Mary taught Jesus obedience?

Mary surely knew that Jesus would listen to her and perform his first miracle, turning water into wine.  Mary’s faith helps us to see that it is possible for us to have faith that will move mountains.  Her faith inspires me to Trust Jesus as she Trusted in God’s plan.  I am inspired by Mary to be present in the now and pray for God to help me change the world.

Do you think that living with Mary’s example helped Jesus give the Sermon On The Mount;

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy

Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

God’s love for us in sharing Jesus.  Calling Mary to be our Mother.  Trying to reach each one of us in a personal loving way.  Bringing the Kingdom of God to us so that we could be happy now on earth and in the Heaven with Him forever.
