Until God ordains otherwise, a man ought to bear patiently whatever he cannot correct in himself and in others. Imitation of Christ by John Kempis

Wounded that do not know Jesus

We all have known those individuals who cut us short when we begin to talk about religion in any form. They let you know quickly that their belief do not include Jesus or going to church. Usually they begin by telling you about hypocrites who turn them off of religion. There are also those who will talk about Jesus passionately, but not become apart of a Church community. It is hard to see Jesus in those who think their christian way is the only way. It is also hard to see Jesus in those who think that God has chosen only them and if anyone else wants to share their experience it is squashed and discredited. All of these things cause people to leave the church.

We all are sinners. Many of us have fallen short but have asked for forgiveness and know we have received love from a Merciful God. We know Jesus personally, but could never explain it to someone that has not accepted the call to surrender to Jesus. Many think they need to give something up to surrender to Jesus. It is very sad because they are missing out on a supernatural consolation to all of their problems. Some think that they need to be perfect before they surrender. Then there are the ones who use the excuse of observed sins of others to keep them from surrendering. This lacks logic. The people that are the scariest are the ones who believe that Satan is more powerful than Jesus. They have been recruited by devil worshippers who also believe lies. They usually have left the church because the church found them not good enough.

Jesus said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” Jesus lived with sinners, prostitutes, thieves, tax collectors, murderers and they were healed by his forgiveness and mercy. I am sure Jesus would change the minds of those who believe in abortion and euthanasia. Jesus would heal them with love and acceptance. His mission was to the Jewish people, but the religious leaders were to busy judging Him. So sad they missed the point of Gods love for us all. So many of us, even those who have surrendered, spend too much time judging others on their religion instead of the real point of love. Father forgive them for they know not what they do, means we do things without knowing it is wrong. If you have asked someone why they did something wrong to you, they will be astonished and confused that you were offended. There are few that do evil things on purpose. I believe it is better to be a sinner with Jesus helping you than a sinner suffering it alone. They are under an allusion that Alcohol, Food, success, things, people, money, power are filling their emptiness and void in their lives. When in reality they are suffering from an emptiness that only God can fill in their life.

Christians should be a better example by living the scripture and allowing those who are lost to see the goodness of God. Jesus drew many with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and a burning love for sinners. We must pray for those who are lost and blinded by sin and ignore their blindness to Gods love for them.
“Most of us are like the man who lay at the Pool of Bethsatha for thirty-eight years who was not cured. His excuse was that when the waters were stirred, there was no one to put him in. He needed healing but he really did not want it. When our Lord appeared, He told the man to do the very thing he thought was impossible, namely take up his bed. What was wanting was his will. He was moribund because he did not want to be better. Ever since the days of Adam man has been hiding from God and saying God is hard to find. The truth is that in each heart there is a secret garden which God made uniquely for Himself. The garden is like a safety deposit vault inasmuch as it has two keys. God has one key, hence the soul cannot let in anyone else but God. The human heart has the other key, hence not even God can get in without man’s consent. God is always at the Garden Gate with his key. We pretend to look for ours, saying we cannot find it, but all the while it is in our hand, did we but will to see it. The reason we are not happy is because we do not want God.” Archbishop Fulton Sheen (Modern Soul in Search of God). J
